With a global installed base of 1 million passenger seats, the Aftermarket Services business offers a comprehensive aftermarket service to our customers.  These services include spare parts supply and repair services across all classes of seat whether it is Super First Class, Business Class or Economy Class.

 

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Strategic Buyer in our Aftermarket Services business located in Winston-Salem, NC.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizes price, delivery, and terms; typically manages suppliers with $5-$10 million per year of products and services; purchases complex items where detailed specification is involved.
  • This seasoned-level position is involved in developing specifications and requires analysis to balance the value of competing bids; guided by established policy and with minimum supervision, carries out broad assignments usually involving the purchase of important and critical items requiring extensive or specialized knowledge and experience.
  • Investigates and identifies qualified suppliers; issues requests for quotations; may evaluate vendor reliability.
  • Works with supplier representatives regarding specifications, costs, inspection, and similar problems relating to parts and equipment.
  • Monitors open order status for assigned suppliers and works to eliminate past due orders. Works with suppliers to ensure recovery plans are in place and being followed for past due orders.  Recognizes and escalates problems on a timely basis.
  • Maintains detailed supplier performance data for delivery results.  Analyzes and evaluates supplier performance as input to Leadership Team. Communicates supplier performance data to suppliers.
  • Works to drive continuous improvement in quality and delivery; includes requesting and follow-up on formal corrective actions and recovery plans.
  • Reviews, approves and issues purchase requisitions; follows up and expedites as necessary.
  • Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items; estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Monitors market trends and conditions.
  • Provides guidance and training other Buyers.
  • Performs other related duties as required

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily, as well as:.

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university.
  • Eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Exhibits the capacity to analyze data for trends and root cause analysis and present findings/recommendations to Leadership team.
