As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Quality and Compliance Manager in our Seating Products business located in Winston-Salem, NC.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for evaluating internal controls and processes to ensure they are adequate, effective and in compliance to the Seating New Equipment (SNE) FAA approved Quality Management System (QMS) and AS9100 requirements.  Additionally, this role will include the development and execution of surveillance and corrective action programs as required by 14CFR 21.137 and our Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA).  Other ancillary duties will be assigned as the SNE QMS evolves as a function of business growth, new products, and shifts in customer and regulatory delegations.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the AS9100 representative for SNE with responsibility for maintaining AS9100 certification for SNE Winston-Salem.  Responsibilities for this include coordinating surveillance and certification audits with the registrar; ensuring internal audit are conducted to prepare for surveillance and certification audits; and facilitating dual site (Seating Administration and Seating Manufacturing) AS9100 audits.
  • Implements Compliance controls that ensures product certification processes including the Partnership for Safety Plan (PSP) continues to meet FAA/EASA requirement.
  • Lead investigations and manage regulatory disclosure and in-service product remediation activities as required to address product compliance escapes.
  • Manages the internal audit program including scheduling, audit and checklist planning, internal auditor training, and leadership coaching to support compliance and continual improvement.
  • Assumes lead auditor responsibilities. Administers internal auditing processes addressing all elements of the AS9100 standard. Drives overall root cause and corrective actions specific to QMS and/or AS9100 non-compliance issues. Identifies and directs the correction of weaknesses of internal processes to sustain adherence to regulatory, AS9100, and customer requirements.
  • Manages the Corrective Action System to ensure that AS9100, customer requirements, and delegations/approvals are sustained and internal processes remain compliant.
  • Develops and manages the Airbus DOA Surveillance Plan to assure adherence to Airbus requirements as defined in the Design Organization Interface Document (DOID), DOA compliance matrix, and Product and Process Assurance Plan (PPAP).
  • Manages the Quality System documentation to maintain effectiveness and relevance to continually developing processes.  This includes ownership of the Quality Assurance Manual and coordination with the Seating Aftermarket Operations (SAO).
  • Manages the system that controls effectiveness and electronic distribution of the procedures that comprise the SNE Quality System Index (QSI). Coordinates the requirements for updates or changes with the process owners.
  • Guides and instructs Quality engineers and inspectors.
  • Assigns technical resources to local work assignments (workforce allocation) and primary point of contact for resource issue resolution.
  • Approves work scope for quality initiatives.
  • Ensures organizational compliance to policies, processes, and standard work requirements.
  • Acquires and develops technical resources which contribute to the effective completion of quality initiatives.
  • Responsible for success (quality management system, technical requirements, cost of poor execution, product integrity, etc.) of assigned/allocated tasks and activities.
  • Leverages advanced Quality tools (Data Analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC,) and provides direction for employees on complex technical quality subjects.
  • Educates and trains leadership, staff, and associates on the Quality System with respect to roles, responsibilities, and application of quality principles.
  • Provides guidance to and develops compliance department support staff to provide consistent and accurate support to the organization on quality matters and administration of PMA and DOA/POA.
  • Oversees and participates in review of customer/industry/supplier requirements.
  • May serve as primary quality liaison to the customer.
  • Responsible to identify, communicate and mitigate risk throughout the value stream.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance systems and activities.
  • Reports on the performance of elements of the QMS leaders as a basis for improvement.
  • Ensures awareness of customer requirement is promoted throughout the organization.
  • Serves as the SNE expert and leader in ensuring compliance with AS9100 certification, FAA regulations, and OEM systems and regulations.
  • Manages the overall processes involved with compliance and ensures management and staff of SNE are carry out their roles in order for the business group to maintain compliance with regulations and standards.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college/university required, and 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education experience.
  • Prior experience in aerospace quality management.
  • Working knowledge and thorough understanding of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100/9102, National Aerospace & Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP), FAA/EASA requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in HQMS and SharePoint applications.
  • Must be able to lead by influence cross functional teams.

  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical assembly with stringent fit and finish requirements
  • Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA)
  • Six Sigma (minimum Green Belt)
  • Advanced Quality Planning (AQP); and Metrology
