As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Buyer (Temp) in our Engineering Components business located in Winston-Salem, NC.



  • Coordinating with Design Engineering group and  Management to procure materials relating to testing and prototyping following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizing price, delivery, and terms; typically purchases $5-$10 million per year of products and services; purchases complex items where detailed specification is involved.
  • Solicits bids and quotations; may review and negotiate purchase contracts for major commitments; analyzes and evaluates bids to determine optimum value; selects suppliers, issues purchase orders, follows up, and expedites as necessary; evaluates vendor reliability.
  • Maintains visual management and standard work for purchasing projects.
  • Experience with BOMs
  • Convert BOMs and SOW’s in to purchasing requirements and work order requirements.
  • Coordinates with  management to ensure that all necessary materials for projects are purchased and delivered on time to support projects.
  • Responsible for creating work orders for materials that are purchased incomplete, or that require rework.
  • Recommends modifications to standard procedures.
  • May develop new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
  • May negotiate contracts where losses, occurring through errors in judgment, would seriously impact company operations.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Negotiates service contracts and approves extra work claims.
  • Assures adequate documentation is received with purchased materials
  • Performs other related duties as required.



  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Five or more years of related experience or combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or life and work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 7 and intermediate Excel skills (ie. maintaining spreadsheets with multiple tabs)



  • Experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred
  • Ability to maintain mulitple projects at one time; multi-tasking, highly organized
  • Ability to refocus priorities with changing business needs; flexible
  • Experience with quality systems (ie. FAIs, Certificates of Conformance, AS9100, etc.)
