As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including an Distribution and Logistics Director in our Aftermarket Services business located in Winston Salem, NC.  

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the VP and General Manager of our Aftermarket Services business, the Director of Distribution & Logistics will partner with the business leadership within a matrix environment to oversee the operations of the global Regional Distribution Centers (RDC) for the Interiors Systems Aftermarket business. The three primary RDCs are based in Winston Salem, NC, the United Kingdom and the Philippines, with other smaller centers placed strategically around the world to support key airline customers. 

 

This role will be responsible for the performance of the RDCs and Export / Import / Free Trade Zone compliance. This role will also work with the other senior leadership team members to continuously assess the needs of the business and structure the organization to support growth strategies, increased productivity and process improvement. This is a dynamic role which will be based in Winston Salem, NC, but will require regular travel to the global business locations within the Aftermarket Services group. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversee operations of the Regional Distribution Centers (RDC) for the Aftermarket Services business
  • Responsible for all aspects of the RDCs operational performance including customer on-time delivery, inventory optimization, freight management, and customs and regulatory compliance
  • Develop metrics/assessment tools to understand the overall performance of the RDCs and their teams
  • Responsible for development and execution of an integrated distribution strategy related to current and future business requirements
  • Develop, implement and monitor distribution processes and procedures, and ensure consistency of operations across all RDCs
  • Monitor all distribution activities including receiving, handling, packaging, and delivery to ensure customer requirements and RDC goals are met
  • Evaluate physical requirements for current and future distribution state including space, permits etc.
  • Coordinate proper staffing levels to ensure sufficient coverage and maximum productivity
  • Recruit and develop a productive warehouse management team including supervisors and other key roles
  • Ensure compliance with legal/governmental regulations including Free Trade Zone
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policy and laws including those for HAZMAT products
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives including implementation of Lean and/or Six Sigma best practices
  • Develop business plans and budgets and manage their execution
  • Performs other related duties as required

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • This position will work in a highly matrixed environment across the Aftermarket Services business and will directly supervise exempt and/or nonexempt associates as appropriate. The role will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10-plus years of Operations/Supply Chain or Distribution experience, to include the following; ability to operate in a highly matrixed global environment, effective communication skills; demonstrated project management skills, gained from a varying range of project scope and magnitude; and knowledge of various continuous improvement problem analysis tools such as value stream mapping, fishbone diagrams, control charts, cause and effect, and pareto analysis.
  • Ability to travel
