Cost Estimating Manager, Supply Chain

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Cost Estimating Manager in our Supply Chain function located in Winston-Salem, NC




Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, the Cost Estimating Manager will have a strong focus on market analysis to have an in-depth understanding of the market dynamics spend, cost drivers, supply base, contract requirements, and product life cycle. This role will establish and align internal and external category expectations and be accountable for the development and management of the long-term category strategy. This position is responsible to engage with Leadership in "should-cost" models, supplier relationships, fair market analysis and document the findings in key deliverables to be communicated and approved by the category stakeholders (and their leadership).




  • Identify and map out the cost elements and establish the cost breakdown and drivers using the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
  • Develop financial models to track and forecast business impacts and opportunities relative to global and regional economic conditions.
  • Collect, analyze and store data for estimating and analysis.  Assist in developing, maintaining and monitoring estimating data and standards, procedures and processes.
  • Collaborate with Suppliers, Commodity Teams, Engineering, and other internal departments to gather data used to develop and support cost estimates, support supplier negotiations, and identify cost savings opportunities through the utilization of should-cost, target pricing, supplier negotiations, and benchmarking.
  • Benchmark and analyze industry best practices, maintain current knowledge of industry trends in material cost estimating and price analysis techniques.
  • Conceive plans and execute process improvement projects involving the development of new approaches and methods to attain objectives.
  • Devises plans or improvises the current methods to reduce the procurement, production and transportation costs without compromising the quality specifications.
  • Integrates the information technology systems with the supply chain processes.
  • Prepares annual or quarterly budgets of operation and financial targets in compliance with the firm’s policies, strategies and objectives.
  • Coordinates and resolves issues regarding existing and new products.
  • Interacts with customers to ensure that all requirements are being met.
  • Performs other related duties as required.




  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; and minimum five years of related experience. MBA is preferred.



  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, aerospace being more preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of labor market conditions.
  • Experience working in large organizations with a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Desire to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead projects to make improvements to processes, procedures, etc.
