 As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Procurement Specialist in our Canadian Engineering and Manufacturing business located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.



 Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Procurement Specialist is a seasoned-level professional responsible for sourcing, procurement, supplier development and inventory management in an aerospace manufacturing environment.  The Buyer will be purchasing materials, parts, supplies, equipment and/or services following aerospace quality policies and procedures while optimizing price, delivery, and terms. We are looking for an individual who is a self-starter and is looking to grow with the business.


  • Implementation of the inventory management strategies to ensure continuity of supply to the customer base. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
  • Performing analysis to balance the value of competing bids; guided by established policy and with minimum supervision
  • Carries out broad assignments usually involving the purchase of important and critical items.  Must be conversant with those areas of the Quality Manuals that directly affect procurement activities.
  • Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizes price, delivery, and terms.
  • Solicits bids and quotations; reviews and negotiates purchase contacts; analyzes and evaluates bids to determine optimum value; selects suppliers, issues purchase orders, follows up, and expedites as necessary; evaluates supplier reliability. Ensure that parts and materials used in Aeronautical Products are procured from suitable suppliers in accordance the Qualified Procurement List and that Supplier surveys are forwarded and received from new suppliers before initiating a Purchase Order.
  • Coordinates with production, warehouse, logistics and distribution for the smooth flow of the supply chain including but not limited to stock levels, purchase order requirements and certification documents.
  • Devises plans or improvises the current methods to reduce the procurement, production and transportation costs without compromising the quality specifications. Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Performs as a liaison with the Suppliers for smooth flow of the essentials without any time delays, negotiates for quality, quick delivery and purchase price with the suppliers.
  • Monitors supplier performance in areas of cost and on-time delivery, Review and develop suppliers under Quality Management Systems and ensure supplier performance metrics are achieved.
  • Interacts with internal customers to ensure that all requirements are being met. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Implements consistent and effective materials management processes throughout the operation in order to maximize our customer service performance. Produces supply chain performance data as required / requested.
  • Performs other related duties as required.



  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Purchasing and Inventory Control with demonstrated experience in comprehensive, supply chain management.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)



  • Currently a member of APICS and working toward CPIM designation or CPIM Certified is preferred. 
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, especially aerospace.
  • Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead projects to make improvements to processes, procedures, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility with, interact with, and influence suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders; Ability to build strong relationships.
  • A "people person" capable of establishing good business relationships internally and externally
  • A team player with proven ability to work cross-functionally
