Our Lenexa facility specializes the production of Oxygen Life Support Systems and Galley Inserts Beverage Maker Products. Our Oxygen and Beverage Maker small parts assembly manufacturing, focuses on safety and quality products production into the field for aircraft crew and passengers.

 

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Buyer in our Oxygen & PSU Systems business located in Shanghai, China.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager for the Oxygen & PSU Systems business, the Buyer comprehensively manages Commodities such as merchandise, raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, equipment, and/or services to support Production Operations.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures, driving the optimization of  price, delivery, and terms; typically purchases $3-5 million per year; does not become heavily involved in the development of specifications or Suppliers, but the work is more complex than buying off-the-shelf items. 
  • Performs a material requirements planing for the requirements of the Oxygen & PSU business to ensure timely delivery of product to the designated assembly operation.
  • Reviews, approves and issues purchase requisitions; follows up and expedites as necessary.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Works cross-functionally, especially with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Materials, Receiving, Inspection, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, & Production Planning to coordinate purchase timing, quantities, pricing, and goods delivery/storage, in support of business goals around output, efficiency, and cost of inventory. 
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • As required, monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at the best value.
  • Monitors market trends and conditions.
  • Performs other related duties & projects as required.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of experience & education
  • At least 2 years related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems

  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure

  • Ability to read technical drawings and identify material call-outs

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

 

PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS:

  • 3 years related experience and/or training supporting a Manufacturing organization (does not have to be Procurement) and/or 1 year related experience and/or training supporting a Manufacturing organization (does not have to be Procurement)
  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense procurement

  • Understanding of and participation in the AS9100 Quality Requirements

  • Previous experience working with JD Edwards or E1 Systems

  • Prior track record of success in achieving significant improvements to the Supply Chain Organization thru drafting and implementing Cost Savings, LT Reductions, Contracting, Quality improvement, Delivery improvement, or Supply Security Planning projects with Supplier Partners

  • Prior track record of adhering consistently to Standard Work, and developing personal cadences in support of that standard work, all within the bounds of Procurement Policies, Procedures, and Best Operating Practices

  • Prior experience with Continuous Improvement of Procurement Team processes and methods
