Customer Service Apprentice

B/E Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rockwell Collins Inc., is a leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and we currently have some exciting positions based at our Leighton Buzzard facility, including a Customer Service Apprentice.   


Reporting to the Customer Services Team Leader, the Customer Service Apprentice is responsible for performing core Customer Services administrative functions, primarily processing spares quotations and sales order entry. This is a varied role with a high level of multitasking.


Key responsibilities include –

  • Supporting the process of managing customers’ accounts
  • Load Customer orders onto Customer Services Database (CSDb / E1)
  • Load Customer repair orders onto our MRP system (automatically via CSDb/E1 or directly)
  • Scan Customer order acknowledgements, copies of PO’s and quotes into CSDb/E1
  • Issue spare parts quotations in response to Customer requests
  • Initiate and complete “Ref BoM” actions in support of quotation and sales order processing functions
  • Actively escalate AOG and expedite requests with appropriate departments to support customer needs
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvements programmes designed to improve the efficiency of the role or team
  • Ad hoc initiatives as requested by Customer Services Manager
  • Compilation and reporting of sales & customer services performance metrics
  • Administration & general support of Sales Team


Network & Relationships


  • Working with Customer Services Representatives to ensure Customer requirements are met for spares quoting and sales order entry.
  • Working with Engineering, specifically PDM team to identify and investigate parts requested by Customers.
  • Working with Shop Floor Team Leaders to ensure orders are not held for Export Compliance.
  • Working with Repairs Department to load sales orders and consult regarding repairs quotations.
  • Working Customer Services Departments across B/E sites to support Customer spares quotation requests.



  • Responding to Customer spares quotation/PO requests or further information required.


The Ideal candidate will have the following –


  • Educated to at least ‘GSCE’ standard or equivalent
  • IT literate – an understanding of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access)
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer focus
  • Proactive approach to problem resolution
  • Promotes positive relationships, internally and externally


The following would be an advantage –

  • Experience of parts quotation procedure
  • Working knowledge of Manufacture Resource Planning (MRP) software
  • Experience of working in a Customer Services environment
