B/E Aerospace, Inc.,  a Collins Aerospace company is a leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and we currently have some exciting positions based at our Kilkeel facility, including a Quality Manager.

JOB TITLE:                           Quality Manager

 

DEPARTMENT:                    Quality

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:              Quality Director

 

HOURS:                               37.5 hours per week.  The post holder may be required at times to work outside his/her normal working hours for the effective performance of the duties of the post.

KEY PURPOSE              

  • Responsible for coordinating activities required to meet world-class quality standards and targets
  • To ensure that the products built meet both external and internal requirements, including regulatory compliance and customer expectations
  • Monitor and advise on quality performance, producing data and reports on performance measured against set indicators
  • Liaising with other departments and staff throughout the organisation to ensure that QMS is functioning properly
  • Lead problem resolution process in a cross-functional format that supports production needs and increases customer satisfaction

 

 

The successful candidate will be responsbale for the following: 

  • Manage and drive key plant initiatives and Policy Deployment (PD) activities
  • Manage Quality resources – including direct supervision of quality engineers and inspectors, including objectives setting and performance appraisals
  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organisation
  • Ensure that the set QA objectives and metrics are achieved e.g. Policy Deployment, CAS (Commercial Aircraft Segment) and Kilkeel KPI’s, Customer and Program Specific NPI targets
  • Agree standards and establish clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply
  • Define local quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
  • Set up and maintain controls and documentation procedures
  • Identify relevant quality-related training needs and deliver training
  • Collect and analyse customer performance data and implement improvement plans
  • Monitor the effectiveness of QMS through internal audits, agreeing with the relevant managers any corrective action
  • Ensure QE participation in preliminary and critical design reviews to ensure quality requirements are addressed at the design phase
  • Ensure QE participation in program Gate reviews to ensure quality requirements are addressed at the design phase
  • Support/manage customer visits and assessments
  • Support/manage external audits from third and second parties

Essential Criteria:

  • Third level qualification in quality or other related field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable role with relevant people management experience.

OR

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable role with relevant people management experience.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • 5 years working experience in Quality or Engineering gained in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding and experience of New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Have a solid understanding and experience of ISO9001/AS9100.
  • Have significant experience in applying problem solving methodologies e.g. 8D.
