Manufacturing Leader

RESPONSIBLE TO:      Business Unit Manager


HOURS:                       39 hours per week Monday to Thursday 8.00am – 5.00pm and 8.00am – 1.00pm Friday. The post holder may be required at times to work outside his/her normal working hours for the effective performance of the duties of the post.


LOCATION:                         Rockwell Collins operating in the UK as B/E Aerospace (UK) Ltd

                                   2 Moor Road, Kilkeel, Co Down, BT34 4NG


Key Purpose: 

The successful candidate will provide leadership to a production team within a lean manufacturing environment where performance is measured against key performance metrics including safety, quality, on-time delivery and continuous improvement.


The Role:

  • Provide leadership and direction to a production team.
  • Ensure performance delivery against key targets/metrics and quality standards (deliver the Master Production Schedule and related KPI’s).
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and cost reduction to maximise efficiency and effectiveness within a team.
  • Effectively manage a team to increase line performance and development of individuals.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety standards and requirements are met.
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and manage change within a fast paced production environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Hold or be working towards a Third level qualification in Engineering, Technology or Business discipline with 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a fast paced manufacturing environment.


  • Currently working towards or have successfully completed a Management Development Program (e.g. Internal Step Up Programme, Internal Trainee Program or  a similar program with an ILM Level 5 Management qualification) with 1 years’ experience in a supervisory role.


  • 3 years' experience in a supervisory role within a fast paced manufacturing  environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to lead and interact with all levels of staff


    Desirable Criteria:

  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills and problem solving skills, both at an individual and team level.
  • Ability to demonstrate adaptability and personal resilience in an ever changing working environment.
