The Rockwell Collins Interior Systems Summer Intern Program affords students the ability to:

  • Access and work with state-of-the-art equipment
  • Learn and gain practical experience in a hands-on environment
  • Work on projects and programs currently in progress at Rockwell Collins Interior Systems, which allows the intern to apply knowledge that contributes to the overall business

 Member of the engineering team and work within the engineering swim lane finding solutions to Engineer Change Requests (ECR). 

  • Implementing ECR technical solutions in NX both in modeling and drafting ensuring model is within proper standards and all tolerance stack up are performed.
  • Work with Engineering team to build prototypes. 
  • Host design reviews presenting to Integrated Product Team (IPT), discuss design solutions, take notes, and update designs based on design review feedback.
  • Create Engineering Change Notices (ECN) documenting solutions.   
  • Engage with the Engineering Test departments to understand all test requirements.
  • Engage with Manufacturing to comprehend how parts are built to ensure manufacturability of design. 




  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completion of sophomore year
  • Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program for the Fall 2019 semester in related field (BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Available for a 12 week commitment between May – August 2019. 





  • 3D modeling experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
