As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Quality Technician – Engineering Development Lab in our Seating Products Group business located in Winston-Salem, NC.
- JOB SUMMARY*
Reporting to the Supervisor, Conformity – Engineering Development Lab, the Quality Technician – Engineering Development Lab will work with little to no technical direction, perform inspection and testing procedures on mechanical assemblies and parts to determine if they conform to blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and MIL specifications.
Reads and interprets complicated blueprints and specifications, including customer and vendor specifications
Performs product/process audits
Identifies causes of rejects and ensures corrective action is taken
Sets up instruments (mechanically or electrically) for inspection
Uses mechanical and electrical measuring tools such as CMM and Optical Comparators
Performs critical first-piece inspections
Prepares original fixtures or methods for cost-effective minimization of defects
Makes outside field trips to approve vendor material or operations or check finished product
May train other technicians
Determines unstated or hidden dimensions from a blueprint, working with fractions, decimals and other math skills
Calibrates measuring instruments using standards; administers the calibration activities
Administers the raw material testing and verification program
Under a Quality Engineer’s supervision, facilitates project completion
Performs other related duties as required
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and at least two years of related experience or equivalent education and experience
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure materials
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Must have good verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals across the organization
Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.
Must have strong organizational skills and ability to manager multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and other project and engineering related software programs.
At least five years of related experience
