As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions based in Leighton Buzzard, including a Shipping Operative.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be required to undertake the physical handling of packed orders and associated administration tasks, following set procedures, shipping customer orders to meet specific deadlines.
- Specifically this role is responsible for:*
_ Receipt and Dispatch of Goods_
Receive cartons and pallets into the dispatch area from several other areas of the business.
Check and record paperwork and information received with cartons.
Cross reference information received against database to determine method of shipment.
Handle, organise and maintain methodical storage of cartons prior to dispatch.
Coordinate with drivers/outside parties to release goods from the area.
Barcode scanning to receipt customers’ goods into the dispatch area.
Email communication with internal and external parties.
Online consignment booking.
Creation of shipping documents.
Telephone bookings and communication internally and externally.
Scanning/archiving for shipping documents.
Matching records with receipts, logging shipment information and archiving.
Running shipping related reports and manipulating data.
Using JD Edwards (MRP system) to invoice shipments and to determine the status of parts.
Completion of Consignment Security Certificates to accompany goods.
General administration and filing.
Any other duties.
_ Network and Relationships_
Liaise with operational planning departments and Customer Services to prioritise and schedule shipments.
Liaise with Customer Services department to provide records such as proof of shipment.
Coordination with B/E appointed and customer appointed carriers, couriers and shipping agents.
Coordination with other B/E Aerospace sites.
Coordination with other departments such as Customer Service, Purchasing, Programme Management and Accounts.
Communication and coordination with Government agencies such as HMRC and DfT.
The Ideal candidate will have the following -*
Educated to GCSE standard including Math’s & English
Experience in shipping related role
IT Literate – with an effective use of Windows and Microsoft Office functions (Word, Excel etc)
Forklift truck license or willingness to undertake with training.
Experienced with Manual Handling.
Ability to follow set procedures and work to strict deadlines.
Methodical handling of paperwork and data to ensure accuracy of record keeping.
Good communication skills – verbal and written.
Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Experience in 5S and/or Continuous Improvement would be an advantage
Flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team.
