As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available at our Havant Facility in the UK, including a New Product Introduction (NPI) Team Leader.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the Planning and Organisation of the work load for the New Product Introduction department by managing the NPI team and providing support to all production activities of new and existing WASP products within agreed timescales and to acceptable customer satisfaction. You will interface with all WASP departments to ensure the smooth introduction and maintenance of new and exisiting product throughout the product's life cycle.

  • Key Responsibilities*

  • To act as an interface between design and production with regard to new product ensuring Production is actively represented at all design reviews

  • Actively manage all aspects of the build and test of all PDR, CDR, Qualification and SS1 units

  • Interface with PED to ensure all processes, test and build documents are adequately defined to enable the PED team to implement effective and efficient processes which meet the standards required of an aviation business

  • Ensure all training required for new product is undertaken with relevant depts.

  • Ensure daily production requirements are achieved, meeting customer expectations.

  • Analysing and preparing documents needed for production.

  • Completing status reports for production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory.

  • Creating a production schedule and prioritise works orders for production optimization as well as maintaining the production schedule and other reports as required.

  • Ensure the safety of all assigned employees including the availability of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Ensure product quality conforms within the processes and procedures of AS9100.

  • Ensure good housekeeping.

  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

  • Key Skills/Experience*

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and instructions in essential. The company is moving towards a paperless working environment therefore good PC skills are essential as you will access all engineering documentation via PC at your workstation.

  • At least 5 years in a production environment where similar type of work is undertaken i.e. small batch volume, low to medium value but high in mix of product typically 200 - 300 per month

  • Good communications and numerical skills (written and verbal).

  • Attention to detail; Problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of relevant engineering and manufacturing techniques including IPC soldering standards, static sensitive devices etc

  • Knowledge and awareness of ISO9001 and AS9100C standards

  • Management skills to develop a reactive workforce whereon time delivery and quality are to the fore

  • Keep up to date with current and developing trends in the manufacturing industry.

  • Good communication, numerical skills both written and verbal and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

  • Able to organise and motivate others to meet time scales.

  • Attention to detail, ability to priorities resources based upon the Schedule.

  • Planning and organising skills.

  • Min 3 / 5 years experience working with MRP / MPS systems

  • Good time management, scheduling and prioritisation skills.

  • Qualifications*

  • Min 3 / 5 year Experience within a manufacturing environment and a willingness for self development as required.

  • Production Planning experience.

  • 5 GSCE [level A - C] inc Maths and English or equivalent.
