As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available at our Havant Facililty in the UK, including a Manufacturing Engineer.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing a complete Manufacturing Engineering solution for specific programs from initial design conception through to design release for manufacture of parts. You will also act as the Manufacturing Engineer for products released to Manufacturing and continue to provide assistance on those products and technical aspects where they are required during the life cycle of the product.

  • Key Responsibilities*

  • Support all Manufacturing aspects of new and existing products within the agreed timescale and budgets as identified.

  • Support all departments that interface with this role.

  • Ensure the smooth release from Design to Manufacturing of new products.

  • Support Tollgate Reviews and ownership of Release to Manufacture (Tollgate 4) from New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.

  • Work closely with the Design Engineers to ensure Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) is applied on new programs.

  • Work closely with NPI during Prototype and Qualification Build process to provide manufacturing support and link between NPI and Engineering.

  • Design and procure any assembly, Jig and Fixture requirements for manufacturing and testing purpose.

  • Responsibility for any Manufacturing test equipment requirements.

  • Maintain the Product Life Cycles (PLC) database during NPI build.

  • Issue and control Special Processes, Manufacturing Layout and Manufacturing Packages.

  • Raise Capital Expenditure for sourcing manufacturing equipment.

  • Approve Concession's, Manufacturing Permits etc ensuring manufacturability and correct functionality.

  • Provide assistance to troubleshoot and solve day to day manufacturing problems concerned with manufacturability and recommend corrective action for any failures or quality associated problems.

  • Assessing and providing planned Plant maintenance and removal of defective tools.

  • Setting up machines for manufacturing as required.

  • Keep the records and control the Mould Tool, Assembly and press tools.

  • Provide job related training.

  • Develop and implement suitable processes applying lean principles.

  • Keep the Engineering Manager informed of design progress and of problems both internally and externally.

  • Observe all document and data control protocols.

  • Any other duties as instructed by the Engineering Manager.

_ Key Skills/Experience_

* * A minimum of 10 years proven experience in a similar job role and environment is key for this position.*

  • Must be computer literate: word, excel and project.

  • CAD literate; Solidworks ideally will be a distinct advantage.

  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings is essential.

  • Good communications and numberical skills (written and verbal).

  • Attention to detail is essential.

  • Excellent Problem Solving skills.

  • Knowledge of relevant Engineering and Manufacturing techniques including; Lean, NPI, DFA, DFM etc.

  • Knowledge of various standards including; IPC soldering standards, static sensitive devices etc.

  • Knowledge and awareness of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 standards.

  • Team Player as have to work with staff from all departments.

  • Support manufacturing activities at WASP in a manner that conforms to company policies and procedures.

  • An understanding of Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation.

_ Qualifications_

  • Degree ideally, minimum HDC/HND in a suitable subject to support role requirements.

  • Previous related experience, appropriate education, training and skills to compliment a Manufacturing Engineer role.
