Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Manager of Quality for one of the world’s largest providers of commercial aviation and business jet interior products. B/E has a leading worldwide market share in all of their major product lines and serves virtually all of the world's airlines, aircraft manufacturers and leasing companies through its direct global sales and customer support organizations. Their Lighting System division is the industry leader in supplying color and white LED lighting solutions for many of the world's leading OEMs for both business jet and commercial airplanes.
 
The Quality Engineer is responsible for process improvements to the inspection process, ensure compliance to AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications and creating strong internal relationships as well as strong external relationships with suppliers and customers.
 
Background Required:
  
* Quality Engineering experience within the general aviation industry (2-5 years)
* Firm understanding of AS9100 and ISO standards.
* Drive acceptable incoming quality levels to support manufacturing, cost, capacity and delivery goals
* Perform Certification Audits of potential new suppliers and conduct periodic surveillance audits at existing suppliers
* Track Supplier Quality Issues and drive them to closure in a timely manner
* Drive scrap reduction initiatives
* Evaluation of customer complaints.
* Review and disposition of all internal nonconformance findings.
* Perform root cause analysis on all confirmed complaints, claims, and nonconforming material.
* Develop effective corrective action plans to eliminate the root causes of discrepancies.
* Develop effective preventive action plans to ensure that known issues don't recur, or occur in similar situations.
* Perform surveillance, source inspections, and first article inspections
* Witness and validate acceptance, qualification, interchangeability, configuration and compatibility tests
* BS Degree in a technical discipline such as Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Thecandidate will apply the principles of Cost Accounting to record and report the results of our manufacturing operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of manufacturing data. Seeking a dynamic individual to drive change and work cross functional with all individuals at all levels of the organization.
 
Major Duties &amp; Responsibilities: 
 
* Manages inventory and related work order systems including physical to perpetual to general ledges reconciliation, journal entries, audit explanations and standard costs.
* Manages period requirements of manufacturing systems to ensure timing and accuracy of standards, gross margins and provides meaningful analysis of results.
* Manages preparation and execution of annual standard cost roll. Processes involving establishment of standard costs of new parts, and review and analysis of standard costs for existing parts.
* Analyzes variances.
* Audits cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and report on root causes and progress toward making improvements for greater quantity and physical accuracy.
* Prepares, reviews and distributes absorption reports and compares with forecast.
* Provides cost support to cross functional areas as requested.
* Provides product cost information utilized in month end financial closing
* Performs reporting activities throughout the month on margins, absorption, PPV and other metrics to ensure timing and accuracy of standards and gross margins.
* Calculates overheard rates, monitors activities and reports to operations the current activities.
* Directs development of and reviews cost analysis reports and works with manufacturing department heard to formulate corrective actions.
* Maintains the integrity and accuracy of product cost data.
* Updates and distributes program costing on a monthly basis.
* May supervisor and/or mentor other members of the accounting staff.
 
General Accounting: 
* Prepares account reconciliations
* Performs monthly closing activities; including preparation and approval of journal entries
* Maintains fixed asset records
* Assists with accounting operations (payable/receivable if needed.)
Financial Systems:
* Assists in the development and installation of accounting systems, procedures and controls associated with cost accounting.
* Ensures ERP system integrity and accuracy of general ledger and cost accounting data.
Bid Support: 
*  Provides support for bids on new contracts.
* Manages cost accounting requirements in support of sales and marketing and customer service sales quotation process.
* Performs product cost and profitability analysis related to customer RFQ process.
 
Background Required:  
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a cost accountant role.
* Experience in the manufacturing industry is required.
* Must have strong understanding of costing theory.
* Experience with MRP/ERP systems is required. JDEdwards ERP system is a plus.
* Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
* Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Intermediate skills are sufficient for Word and PowerPoint.
* Ability to work in a fast paced lean environment
* Ability to work with internal and external customers and cross functional teams
* Excellent written and oral skills

Incumbent willplan, coordinated and perform activities related to document control functions such as storing, retrieving, updating and reproducing engineering/manufacturing documentation to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Assists in defining, creating, implementing and controlling new documentation and records systems for better quality and efficiency. Performs a variety of document management processes, including collection and preparation of documents to be sent for review by internal and external customers, and by regulatory agencies.
 
Major Duties &amp; Responsibilities:
 
* Analyzes Engineering documents to ensure accurate document and product configuration. Performs a variety of tasks to maintain engineering document files and process engineering change requests.
* Analyses engineering change packages [Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), drawings, etc], using Engineering software package for accuracy and correct product configuration.
* Maintains configuration management databases for operational visibility and measurement purposes.
* Ensures that master drawing files and history files are accurate and current, and that effective control is maintained over drawing and other document records.
* Performs tasks as directed in supporting Engineering Change Board and Configuration Change Board meetings.
* Supports Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Marketing in defining and resolving configuration control issues.
* Assists Engineering management in the implementation of continuous improvement objectives in the areas of standardization, product qualification, and schedule/cost management.
* Serves as a change agent, supporting teams to successfully deliver product designs using a variety of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
* Collects and prepares documents to be sent for review by regulatory bodies.
* Prepares standard notices of change to affected customers.
* Tracks projects to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
* Interfaces with document control to help maintain records for customers.
* Independently investigates assigned problems, determining methods of research, data and information requirements as well as analysis techniques.
* Coordinates complex activities between department and outside parties.
* Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow.
* Develops, writes and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs and related technical and administrative publications.
* Conducts and coordinated the preparation of a wide variety of technical publications and product support literature.
 
Background Required:  
 
* BS Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
* 5-7 years experience in document control, configuration/data management and technical data submittals. Experience in the aerospace is a plus.
* Experience with technical items and publication such as CMM, Install Manuals, and Material and Safety Analysis is a plus.
* Strong analytical skills, project management and process management skills.
* Excellent communication skills including effective oral, written, and presentation.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
* Requires proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
* Familiarity with electromechanical manufacturing is desired.
* Knowledge of computerized MRP/ERP systems is required.
* An understanding of purchasing, planning, production manufacturing and R&amp;D is required.
* CMM experience is desired.
* A complete understanding of configuration management and document control is required.
* Must have an ability to work in a fast-paced, manufacturing and environment.
* Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
