COST ACCOUNTANT - Aerospace Manufacturing
The incumbent should have a successful track record of applying the principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor; analyzes data obtained and records results. They should be comfortable in aggressively digging into details, the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments, and perform other related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops, implements and/or maintains one or a combination of cost accounting systems.
Prepares journal entries, maintains and reconciles ledger accounts.
Collects data from multiple sources, allocates costs and prepares reports on labor, equipment, depreciation, assembly or other operating expenses, ensuring established procedures are followed.
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Prepares financial statements and variance reports as requested.
Performs analysis and prepares special reports.
May interpret reports and records for managers.
Provides training and/or guidance to lower-level Cost Accountants.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; minimum five years related experience and/or training.
Manufacturing cost accounting preferred, and aerospace experience a plus.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
