As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing and have a number of exciting positions available right now. B/E Aerospace's Commercial Aircraft Segment is seeking energetic, self-starters for the position of Director of Engineering at our Lenexa, KS facility. At our Lenexa site we manufacture and assemble a wide selection of passenger and crew oxygen storage and delivery systems. The Director of Engineering will lead all Life Support Systems new product development engineering activities, and is responsible for providing a work environment that encourages excellence. This position is responsible for providing management review and control over multiple units of engineering work, including development of projects, structures, or processes as part of a major engineering program. This managerial position usually integrates several specialized areas of engineering to serve a particular business segment, or directs a single specialization serving several business units.

Key Responsibilities:
 
 
* Manages one discipline over a range of products or processes, or a diverse range of engineering disciplines within subordinate units.
* Focuses on managerial concerns of the project such as cost, completion date, and resource allocation; provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work.
* Reviews technical concepts of major projects.
* Personally participates in solving particularly difficult technical problems.
* Recruitment, performance reviews, and training needs.
* Works closely with customers, marketing and sales, and operations to identify customer requirements are met and accurate cost is applied.
* Leads improving processes used to create, test and launch projects, ensuring proper communication between different functions.
* Acts as change agent and leader to ensure standardization of products and processes throughout the entire business unit.
* Develops annual engineering and new project budgets.
* Participates in Sr level business planning.
* Designs engineering strategies that align with business objectives.
 
Minimum Requirements:
* Master's degree in Engineering and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training

Preferred Requirements:
* Familiarity with the aerospace industry (quality standards, design practices, common manufacturing processes)
* Experience in CAD systems (Unigraphics is a plus), sheet metal and tube forming & fabrication processes, metallurgy, TIG welding, heat treating, NC machining & bending, and injection molded products
* A demonstrated ability to motivate and drive engineers and other professional staff to deliver to high standards
* Knowledge of and experience with designof pneumatic systems - preferably life support systems
* Experience with FAA design requirements.  Significant experience managing complex multi million dollar design and development projects
* Proven leadership and human relations skills and an inclusive management style, motivating team members and being comfortable with raising issues in a timely manner
* Strong businss acumen and the ability to understand how decision and activities in engineering impact the P&L
* Program management, budgeting and cost control experience
* A forward thinking approach to R&D and the ability to provide valuable input onthe technical direction of the organization
* Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
* Able to travel domestically and internationally
* Demonstrated ability to define strategy, supporting processes, and ensure implementation
* Highly skilled planner, familiar with project scheduling and tracking methods and cost accounting principles
* Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
