Our Lenexa facility designs and manufactures Oxygen Life Support System products for commercial, military and private business jet aircrafts providing high quality, innovative solutions to enhance aircraft passengers and crew safety and comfort. We strive to make advances in the field of oxygen delivery and consumption technologies for a more reliable system that reduces total weight and cost for our clientele.
As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Buyer in our Oxygen & PSU Systems business located in Lenexa, KS.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager for the Oxygen & PSU Systems business in Lenexa, the Buyer comprehensively manages Commodities such as merchandise, raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, equipment, and/or services to support Production Operations.
Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures, driving the optimization of price, delivery, and terms; typically purchases $3-5 million per year; does not become heavily involved in the development of specifications or Suppliers, but the work is more complex than buying off-the-shelf items. Items are typically customized items, often involving old or complex designs, sole or single source technology.
Owns the Performance of assigned suppliers, particularly Delivery, Cost and Capacity/Recovery (to MRP health) Schedule performance.
Works cross-functionally, especially with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Materials, Receiving, Inspection, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, & Production Planning to coordinate purchase timing, quantities, pricing, and goods delivery/storage, in support of business goals around output, efficiency, and cost of inventory.
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Performs other related duties & projects as required.
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of experience & education
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment
Experience with MRP / ERP systems
Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure
Ability to read technical drawings and identify material call-outs
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
3 years related experience and/or training supporting a Manufacturing organization (does not have to be Procurement) and/or 1 year related experience and/or training supporting a Manufacturing organization (does not have to be Procurement)
Experience in Aerospace or Defense procurement
Understanding of and participation in the AS9100 Quality Requirements
Previous experience working with JD Edwards or E1 Systems
Prior track record of success in achieving significant improvements to the Supply Chain Organization thru drafting and implementing Cost Savings, LT Reductions, Contracting, Quality improvement, Delivery improvement, or Supply Security Planning projects with Supplier Partners
Prior track record of adhering consistently to Standard Work, and developing personal cadences in support of that standard work, all within the bounds of Procurement Policies, Procedures, and Best Operating Practices
Prior experience with Continuous Improvement of Procurement Team processes and methods
Excelling within a Team environment with diverse personalities & strong opinions and passions
