B/E Aerospace-FSI (Flight Structures & Integration) is a world leading aircraft interiors integrator offering airlines and OEM’s Engineering Services, Standard and Bespoke Monuments Designs & Manufacturing, and Certification Services through FAA-ODA designation.

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Flammability and Materials Engineer in our Flight Structures & Integration business located in Everett, WA.


Responsible for creating flammability substantiation documents and developing and maintaining metallic/nonmetallic materials and fabrication processes used in the design, manufacture and certification of aircraft parts.


  • Participates in Flammability and Material/Process group in support of the design, stress, manufacture and certification of aircraft equipment, installations and modifications.

  • Reviews project-related documentation, including customer/supplier material and process specifications, design data and qualification/substantiation data to ensure its accuracy.

  • Develops project related data via testing of new or improved aircraft interior materials/processes including strength allowables, or other statistical based properties with coordinated regulatory approval.

  • Develops and documents material and process specifications for control of metallic and composite materials.

  • Writes flammability test plans and substantiation reports.

  • Assists in the resolution of day to day technical issues relating to obsolete or superseded materials and processes.

  • Participates in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations in the materials and process arena.

  • Reviews project-related documentation, including customer/supplier material and process specifications, design data and qualification/substantiation data to ensure its accuracy.

  • Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/materials/standards.

  • The position requires an ability to interpret, on a broad basis, the principles, theories, and concepts of materials engineering.

  • Performs other related duties as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university and minimum of three years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • A working knowledge of aircraft certification methodologies (TC/STC), configuration control, and FAA/regulatory policy related to the position.

  • Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience with analysis of variance and statistical methods as it relates to generation of allowable or sampling.

  • Experience with aerospace composite design and drawings, manufacturing, stress and flammability requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills to act as a cross functional liaison with manufacturing, quality, certification and supply base in order to resolve design, production, quality or certification issues relating to materials and processes.
